Zipline Course in East Texas
One of the great features of living in the north Texas area is proximity to great venues. One of my favorite day trip destinations is the zip line course near Athens, Texas. I am providing the link here - the website plays a video when launched so if you are at work or the library turn the volume down.
We went in mid-November when the fall color was at its peak. This place is absolutely beautiful. I wish I had taken my nice real estate camera to capture the splendor, but even with my phone you can see how amazing this place is. The family that lives here and runs this business makes you feel so at home. Every detail of this place is genuine Texas - right down to the lazy dog napping on the front porch.
The friendly staff suits you up in the gear and gives you a lesson. Everyone must pass the practice line before zipping through the forest. The best thing about zip lining is that it is a great equalizer. You can bring a group of all age ranges and athletic abilities. If a person can climb a hill then they can zip line. My 85 year old father went with me a year ago. It is such a thrill!
My next trip to this place will be for the moonlight tour. They arrange a night tour during the full moon. I imagine this is will be even better when all the leaves are off the trees. I can't wait!
The grounds are available for picnic lunches/snacks after your tour. Who wouldn't want to eat lunch while taking in that view? Been there. Did that. Bought a t-shirt!
